Do I need a colour printer?
Colour is nicer, but black and white works. The picture only has to remind you and your child which word this is.
Which words should I print first?
Start with one or two that fit your day. "More" and "all done" fit almost every meal; "up" fits every set of stairs.
Should my child point to the card to ask?
They can, and it counts as communication. The card is mostly there to remind the adult to model the word and then wait.
